Shillong, Jun 19 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Sunday that he had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah asking for preliminary aid of Rs. 300 crore to tide on the path to destruction, both in terms of loss of life and major damage to infrastructure, especially roads, highways, bridges and houses caused by heavy rains.

Shillong, 19 June (UNI) A new citizen platform for democratic renewals in Meghalaya called “KAM Meghalaya” has been formed to ensure a collective and participatory space for citizen engagement towards a more equitable, inclusive and just Meghalaya
About 90 members of civil society, trade unions and individuals gathered in Shillong recently to discuss the issues plaguing the state today and seek ways to bring citizens’ concerns into the electoral arena.

Itanagar, 19th June (UNI) Heavy landslides and deluge triggered by incessant heavy rains over the past five days, coupled with downpour, have taken a heavy toll on the Orang-Kalaktang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga road (OKSRT) in Arunachal Pradesh, breaking road formations, washing away culverts, retaining walls in several places, as a result of which road communication was severely hampered, Defense sources said on Sunday.
“Due to the incessant rain, BRO officials have reported extensive damage to road infrastructure, homes and property in the area. Road communication has been severely hampered,” said Lt. Col. AS Walia, based in Tezpur.
