Booking slots for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccination will become easier now, as the government has partnered with Facebook-owned WhatsApp messaging app for the same.
The merger between the Union’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the citizen engagement platform MyGovIndia and WhatsApp will allow eligible people to get an appointment for a dose of vaccine by phone.
Speaking to Twitter, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote on Tuesday: “Opening a new era of convenience for citizens. Now easily book slots for COVID-19 vaccine on your phone within minutes. “

To book slots on WhatsApp, follow these steps mentioned below:
- Register the MyGov Corona helpline number (9013151515) as a contact
- Send the ‘Reserve a location’ request to this number on WhatsApp
- Enter the 6-digit OTP that you will receive by SMS
- During the chat, you have to choose the preferred date and location, the PIN code and the type of vaccine.
- Obtain confirmation and go to the vaccination center on the day of their appointment
Vaccine slots have so far been booked through the government-owned Co-WIN portal or the Arogya Setu / Umang mobile app and Paytm app. Alternatively, one can register for an injection on site at the vaccination center.
