As the largest events and experiences marketplace in Singapore, Sistic wanted to help its arts and entertainment clients keep communities connected and the industry afloat during these difficult times.

Sistic Live, a live streaming platform was created to bridge the gap between live performance and virtual streaming for local promoters. Sistic Live was so successful in driving engagement and viewership that the team won the silver award for Best Response to COVID-19 and was a finalist for Best in eCommerce (Marketplace/eRetailer) – Entertainment at INTERACTIVE-MARKETING‘s Asia eCommerce Awards 2021.

Challenge

With the mass cancellation of events amid the pandemic measures, promoters and performers have had little opportunity to engage with their audiences, donors and sponsors, other than posting free content on platforms. social media outlets that didn’t generate any revenue and weren’t sustainable in the long run. Live streaming had become a necessity. Yet, there were no key live streaming platforms available for Singapore’s entertainment scene. The existing live streaming platforms available were overseas and cost prohibitive. Additionally, foreign sellers lacked market power or a database of local audiences to help promote and sell tickets. Sistic took on the immense challenge of helping to bridge the gap between live performance and virtual streaming for local events and artists.

The solution

With the challenge and goals in mind, Sistic aimed to quickly develop a product to help struggling promoters pivot online. Thus, Sistic Live was created to provide a platform for promoters to offer secure content with monetization, audience growth, engagement and information gathering goals.

Sistic needed the platform to be seamless for audiences, from product discovery to contactless registrations, payments, access to content, and engagement with promoters and other audiences. Live stream analytics should also be integrated and made available through its existing business intelligence tool to help promoters gain insights into new consumer behaviors and understand audience segments.

Sistic also aimed to encourage large-scale ticket sales by targeting its extensive database of local fans as well as overseas fans through its network of ecosystem partners. More importantly, prices must remain affordable to lower barriers to entry and encourage more developers to use the platform.
