The Bumble Bee Seafood Company Donates $ 900,000 in Products to Feeding America® in Support of Anti Hunger Month

SAN DIEGO – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – In support of Anti Hunger Month, The Bumble Bee Seafood Company Continues to Honor Its Commitment to Feeding Lives Through the Power of the Ocean with a Donation of Over $ 900,000 in Nutritious Seafood to Feeding America®. The proceeds will be donated to areas of the country that have been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 120-year-old seafood company is also finding creative ways to motivate employees at US-based companies to give back. Recently, the company hosted a summer wellness challenge for employees and their families in partnership with the Vizer app, which supports food banks across the country. Participants were able to donate one meal for every 10,000 steps taken or 30 minutes of physical activity, resulting in 1,197 meals to fight hunger in America. Additionally, Bumble Bee is launching “Sea Inspired,” a new internal engagement platform designed to help employees find ways to volunteer, care for the planet and stay healthy. Inspired by the Hunger Action Month awareness campaign, the first “Sea Inspired” program aims to educate employees about hunger issues and empower them by volunteering at local food banks.

“Our company is committed to putting people first, and that includes both our employees and giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Jan Tharp, President and CEO of The Bumble Bee Seafood Company . “Our products are an excellent source of high quality protein and we are proud to be able to make this donation to give back to those who too often go without nutritious meals.”

Bumble Bee’s canned and bagged seafood can help Americans of all ages meet the recommendations for seafood consumption set out in the United States Department of Agriculture’s 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines (DGA ). The DGA recommends that Americans of all ages, especially young children and pregnant women, eat seafood at least twice a week – an amount that less than 20% of Americans currently consume.

Over the past 18 months, Bumble Bee has donated over $ 2 million in produce, provided over 12 million meals through food banks, and made financial donations to numerous local nonprofits. For more information on The Bumble Bee Seafood Company, visit
