Former TrueCar executive Simon Smith has been named president and chief operating officer of CentralBDC, a third-party call center service that supports dealer sales efforts.
Smith (LinkedIn profile) will lead CentralBDC’s new âCustomer Engagement Platformâ, which allows car buyers to interact with company staff through the customer’s preferred communication channel, according to the job advertisement. The platform will be launched later this year.
Smith has worked at the intersection of automotive retail and e-commerce for most of his two-decade career.
âSimon has extensive experience in the automotive industry and an exceptional history of driving both top and bottom results while ensuring that the needs of our partner dealers remain at the forefront,â wrote the CEO and Founder of CentralBDC. Ben Shamsizadeh in a statement.
Smith has worked for the past nine years at TrueCar, ending his tenure in May leading a team of 350 people as Executive Vice President of Dealer Sales and Support.
Previously, he was vice president at Carwoo, a reverse auction market that closed in 2014 before its assets were acquired by TrueCar.
Prior to that, Smith held various executive roles at AutoNation, LeisureLink, Internet Brands and CarsDirect.
